We are doing a fundraiser in Botanic Hockey Club to raise funds to buy a defibrillator machine for use in emergencies at the pitch. The fundraiser will take place on Sunday, 11th October at the club alongside the Generation Game. There will be a raffle, games, a cake sale and lots more going on to help to raise the funds for this important piece of equipment.
The aim would be to raise approximately โฌ2,000, which would cover the initial cost of the machine, and maintenance for the next five years. This would also include training on the machine. This is an achievable sum if we all work together (โฌ1223.85 โ initial investment, โฌ190.65 in year 3 for new pads, โฌ485.85 in year five for new pads and a new battery).
If you feel you could help in any way, we would be very appreciative. We will have buckets for collecting donations down at the club at training sessions, matches on Saturdays and the junior sessions on Sundays. Any donations of funds or raffle prizes can be given to us either, and if you would like to help in any way let us know.
With so many high profile cases in the media of sports people whose lives were saved by the quick thinking of the people surrounding them, and the availability of a life saving defibrillator, we feel that it is something every club should hope to have in Ireland.
