Botanic’s Under 16’s travelled to Galway at the weekend to play Greenfields Hockey Club.ย The girls and their coaches had a fantastic time over the weekend.
17 girls from Anne Dermody and Nora Lee’s Under 16 ย squads made the journey into the west to take on two teams from Greenfields Hockey Club in Galway. Unfortunately, the teams from Galway proved to be too strong but the girls from Botanic put up a brave fight. Greenfields had some interprovincial players and it was a pleasure to watch the games. While the girls may not have got the results they wanted on the pitch, they did not let this dampen the fun they had over the weekend.
They had great fun coping with the three-tiered bunks in the hostel; they enjoyed some retail therapy in Galway city, played rounders on the Claddagh Green and tasted Galway’s finest cuisine. The girls will have lifelong memories of a great trip.
