Heres some info to tell you a bit about what we do in the Botanic Junior section! If you would like any more info feel free to email us at botanichockeyjuniors@gmail.com

Botanic Hockey Club caters for players of all abilities and from five years of age onwards. Junior players in the club, those under the age of 12, are usually grouped according to your class in school. E.g. first and second class grouped together and so on.

Depending on the number of players registered we aim to have teams that fit into the following age categories: Under-8, Under-10, Under -12, Under-14 and Under -16. Previous years there have been two Under-16’s teams but that all depends on the amount of players each season.

Training times

Training for all teams take place on Sunday mornings.
10.00am – 11.30am for the Under -16 and Under-14 teams and Extreme 8’s
12.00pm – 1.00pm for the younger teams (Under-8’s, Under-10’s, Under-12’s).

Training commences on the 29th September 2019  and continues until April with Christmas holidays and mid term breaks taken into account.

Training takes place in St. Mary’s Secondary School Glasnevin. Access to the pitch is via the Old Finglas Road (opposite Cremore Avenue).  Car parking facilities are available in addition to our club’s pavilion.

Matches against other clubs are usually arranged for Sunday mornings. Some of these games will be at home at the pitch in Glasnevin, while others will be away. Parents are welcome at all games, both as supporters and/or drivers! A time table of matches is given out at the start of each season so everyone knows when matches are going to be happening.

In addition to coaching and matches we organise an annual tournament every September for both senior and junior players. We also have our annual Christmas party, complete with Santa and presents. On completing the season each player will receive a certificate of merit.

Sticks and equipment are all provided by Botanic for use on training days including balls etc. Equipment must not be removed from the club at any stage, players should return any sticks/gear before they leave after training. Each player MUST have suitable runners/trainers, tracksuit/leisurewear themselves. Children MUST also wear shin guards and gum shields at all times when playing, both training and matches for their own safety.

The cost for the season is €110 (Oct – Apr). With an additional cost of  €90 per child in the same family.
